Siddharth: Flying high
After making his Kollywood debut with Shankar's Boys (2003), followed by ace Mani Ratnam's Aayudha Ezhuthu (2004), youth icon Siddharth went missing for a considerable gap from Kollywood. Instead, he concentrated more on Telugu and Hindi films and won rave reviews for his top performances in Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (remade in Tamil as Unnakkum Ennakkum Something Something), Rang De Basanti and Bommarillu.
Now, after a long gap, the actor is making a comeback in Kollywood with two films. Tamil audiences will see him first in the (yet-to-be-titled) Disney fantasy flick releasing in Jan 2011. Then we have 180, which is scheduled for a summer release.
'I think I'll make it to the Guinness World Records for launching the most number of new directors. Veteran ad-maker Jayendra is my eighth debutant film director,' Siddharth said, referring to director Jayendra of 180 fame (Putham Pudhu Kaalai in Tamil).
While 180 is set for a summer 2011 release, Bava is expected to hit the marquee in September 2010. 'In Bava I'm playing this village guy Palleturi Bava for the first time in my career. I've got this urban, candy floss, chocolate boy image, but for this film I learned the West Godavari (sing-song) accent so that the character sounds authentic.' Siddharth added.
Siddharth is also thrilled about the big-budget extravaganza Once Upon a Teardrop with Walt Disney, co-starring Shruti Haasan and Lakshmi Manchu. 'I've been working on this film for almost a year and this is my first action film,' he said.

RGV lashes out at A.R. Rahman
Ace Bollywood director-screenwriter-producer Ram Gopal Varma, known for his films across multiple genres -- psychological thrillers, underworld gang warfare, politician-criminal nexus and musicals -- lashed out at reigning music directors, including Oscar award winner A.R. Rahman, saying that they buried the music in South India.
Reportedly, the moviemaker was responding to upcoming actor RaNa's comment about Ilayaraja's soulful music in Chinarayudu. According to a leading website, Ram Gopal Varma commented that A.R. Rahman, Keeravani, Mani Sharma and Devi Sri Prasad had together killed music in films.
Interestingly, it was RGV who introduced Rahman to Hindi audiences with Rangeela; he also introduced Mani Sharma in Telugu but the film was shelved midway. RGV also said that unlike Ilayaraja, these music composers brought importance to sound rather than music. Anyway, it is yet to be seen how the entire film industry reacts to RGV's rude remarks.

Ileana or Trisha in 3 Idiots remakes?
A spokesperson of Gemini Film Circuit (GFC), which bagged the Tamil-Telugu remake rights of the biggest Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots, confirmed that this project will take place after numero uno director Shankar releases his magnum opus Endhiran starring Rajinikanth.
Recently Shankar's publicist tweeted that Vijay, Simbu and Madhavan, along with Sathyaraj (in the role made memorable by Boman Irani), will feature in the Tamil version, while the only change in the Telugu version will be Mahesh Babu replacing Vijay.
Then Madhavan tweeted, 'So sorry folks! I'm unable to do 3 Idiots in Tamil and Telugu. Have other plans. I am sure they will find worthier replacements.'
Now the latest buzz is that the numero uno director is considering Ileana or Trisha to play Kareena Kapoor's role in both Tamil and Telugu.
